Meet the Teacher Day and School Supplies

I am very excited about the beginning of the new school year. I am looking forward to meeting you and your child on August 23, "Meet the Teacher Day."

On Monday, August 23, our school day will be shortened and organized into an "open house" format. This will serve as an orientation to kindergarten for the students and their parents. On this day we ask that you come with your child to school and stay with him/her. You and your child may leave at any time within the scheduled hours of 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. The activities we have planned should last less than two hours. Thank you for scheduling your morning accordingly.

I am also sending this note to inform you of the supplies needed to start the school year. All students should have a backpack and a lunch box. The backpack should be large enough to hold school papers and a lunch box. Backpacks with wheels are not recommended. All items, including jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, etc., should be labeled with their names.

As for classroom supplies, we would appreciate a $20.00 donation so we can purchase needed items through our discount school catalog. It is very important to us to have the same type of crayons, pencils, glue sticks and other supplies. This would allow for uniformity of supplies and avoid potential problems.

However, if you prefer to purchase the supplies yourself, I have included a specific list of items we can use. Please purchase these exact items. A sample of the items is available in the Jack London office, if you have any questions.

  • 1 nylon pencil pouch with a window
  • 1 box of "large" Crayola crayons (8 to a box)
  • 8 Elmer’s glue sticks
  • 1 highlighter (any color)
  • 1 box tissues (any type)
  • 1 bottle of hand sanitizer (8 oz. or larger)

Please put these items in a ziplock bag (label the bag with your child’s name) and bring them to school with you on August 23.

If you have any questions, please ask me on "Meet the Teacher Day." I am looking forward to seeing you then!
