Welcome to Jack London Elementary School!
I’m glad you’re here!
The following are some important reminders:
- Please put first and last names in all articles of clothing that might be left at school, such as coats, sweaters, lunchboxes and backpacks.
- Emphasize to your child that toys should stay at home, unless it is part of a sharing presentation. (Watch for more information about "Show and Tell.")
- Children should bring a daily snack (even if they have ordered hot lunch). It should be small, light and nutritious. It is helpful to place the snack in a special pocket of your child’s backpack, so it will be separate from his/her lunch.
- Milk can be purchased from the school by the semester or by the year; lunches can be purchased by the week.
- Please call the attendance hotline, 524-9034, ext. 26, each time your child is absent. Include the dates of the absence and reason for it.
- We also require notes for changes in the pick-up routine (leaving early, going home with a friend, etc.) If your child is a bus rider, we will put them on the bus unless you have sent a note or called the school office to make other arrangements.
- Most children have handwriting experiences by the time they come to school. Parents and preschool teachers have taught their child how to write his/her name and each child brings that unique way with him/her. In kindergarten, we teach the first letter of the name is uppercase and the remainder, lowercase. I will send home an example on the first day of school.
I will address additional questions and discuss our curriculum on "Back to School Night" in September.
Parents are an essential part of our kindergarten program. We have a dire need for parent volunteers this year. I have a schedule for those who are able to volunteer on a regular basis. Every extra body means more individual attention for the students, so I encourage all to sign up if your schedule permits.
