Summary: Find the latest news from Room C3

Spring is here! This means increased activity at home and at school. Children have more demands made on them both physically and academically. Some children have a difficult time dealing with this increased activity. Even in Kindergarten children get "Spring fever." Please help me by making sure you child has plenty of rest and some quiet time to relax.

Thank you for your continuing support helping your child with his/her homework. We have had great participation, and the children are learning more and more new sounds and writing and reading more and more new words.

I am finally returning the homework booklets and Letter Books in shoeboxes we have decorated. From now on you should place the homework and "My Letter Book" in the shoebox as they are returned on a weekly basis. (We only have a few weeks left!) I will also be sending decodable take-home books from our Phonics Library. The children have colored and read the books at school and they should continue to read and review them at home. These are kept in the cereal boxes at school for a while and have been read and reread and may seem easy for some. For others these are still difficult and you will need to work with your child to learn the "popcorn" words and decoding (sounding-out).

Check out our webpage at jacklondonelementary.org. I will continue to update with more pictures and information.

Some reminders:

1. Please remain outside the gate until 8:20 AM and a teacher is on duty. If you need to drop off your child earlier, they are supervised on the big yard from 8:10 AM.

2. If you are more than 5 minutes late, you must sign your child in at the office and get a slip to enter class. This is especially important if your child orders hot lunch.

Dates to Remember:

April 21-Field Trip to Wells Fargo Center

April 22-EARTH DAY-Walk to school!

May 6th-OPEN HOUSE
